Competition Tips
Hi
Well the club has had it's first handicap comp and I imagine some of you are now eager to get more competitions under your belt. However, it's a big world out there and it wouldn't surprise me if some of you are a bit in awe of the idea of travelling to an unknown club to shoot against other archers. I know I was! Well maybe this would be a useful thread for those who have been to comps to proviide tips that they have picked up over the years.
So let me start with this: Battle Buddies!
When there is a large group of archers who want to attend the same competition it's too easy to try to book yourselves all into the same session. It makes the competition feel like another day in 2020 if your buddies are there on the line with you. But hold that thought ... If you split yourselves evenly over separate sessions then you can all coach/spot for each other. It's great if you have someone telling you where your tiny arrows have fallen or if they can spot you're standing a few feet off the target etc. It might mean the difference between silver and gold! Hey, you've all seen the coaches in the olympics giving orders to their charges. Well if it's good enough for them surely it's good enough for us!
