Monday Evening Fast Track Archery Course £95
Probably our most popular course this gives you a great introduction to archery. The course is taught by Asher and we’ve got a really friendly club night down here at Southwark Academy. Once you’ve done a beginners course you can join any of our other sessions – and of course – we hope that you’ll keep coming along on a Monday!
Who is it for: Complete beginners – no experience necessary. Age 13 and over (under-16s must be accompanied by an adult). Our average age on the beginners course is usually mid-30s, with some younger and some older.
Where is it: Southwark Academy, 240 Lynton Rd SE1 5LA . This is a great venue – its really spacious, about 10mins from Bermondsey tube and – unlike our other venues – is heated.
What is it for: Minimum required in order to be able to shoot with most archery clubs. Can apply for Archery GB affiliation following course as long as you join the club as a member and shoot with us a few times so that we can get to know you!
Content: Structured course offering cumulative learning to end up shooting the full senior indoor distance safely and accurately. This is the best course to start shooting competitive / sport archery as quickly as possible. Sessions are generally social and relaxed. Covers safety, etiquette, technique both sighted and barebow, basic equipment knowledge, scoring and competitive archery.
During the course you will have the opportunity to shoot at 20 yards (the full indoor distance) and to score your first round. We also sell bow kits and are happy for you to try shooting one of our kits if available and you’re considering buying a bow for yourself.
At the end of the course we hope that you will register as a club member and begin to use the range independently.
What happens if I miss a week: It isn’t a problem to miss one week of the beginners course although as this is a Fast Track course you MUST attend week 1. The instructor will help you to catch up when you return. Unfortunately we can’t offer to make up the session at a different time as we don’t have the resources for this – the course runs for 3 weeks at 7pm as scheduled. It really isn’t a problem though – you’ll still be able to finish the course and start shooting with the club.
Includes: 3 x weekly 2 hr sessions over 3 consecutive Mondays (courses run 7pm and 9pm), equipment hire, insurance and instruction
